Taking the L.E.A.P for vision
Kiara Risnes is a year 11 student who is participating in Vision Australia's LEAP program which is helping to develop her skills and confidence required for future employment.
For her fundraising she has chosen to create by hand and sell personalised braille bookmarks for $10 each.
Kiara raised more than $1350 by selling her braille bookmarks.
"Braille is important to me as it is my way of accessing information. It is a form of writing that people don't get to experience much and I want to change that. By ordering one of my personalised bookmarks, I get to share a bit of Braille with you." Kiara explained.
Jack rode 20km on World Sight Day
8 year old Jack wanted to raise money for Seeing Eye Dogs and Vision Australia, so he took on the challenge to ride his bike 20km on World Sight Day.
Jack raised an incredible $418 in his very first fundraiser.
"It made my heart happy that I could raise so much money for Seeing Eye Dogs. A teacher at my school is a puppy carer and my family have also looked after some Seeing Eye Dog puppies, so I know how special these dogs are and I wanted to raise as much money as I could for them." Jack explained.
Fundraising for Seeing Eye Dogs
Michael Lewis and Dog Football club have combined their love of sport and dogs to raise funds to help breed, train and care for Seeing Eye Dogs. The club drives a new initiative of Safe Soccer where the players commit to playing for fun and exercise.
"We wanted to make a difference in the community and we were delighted when Seeing Eye Dogs offered us the chance to become a community partner. Knowing the great work they do and that their love of dogs matches our own, we are incredibly proud to be able to support them with our fundraising efforts." Michael explained.
The Dog Football Club raises funds by displaying the Seeing Eye Dog logo on thier match day shirts in Season 2022 as well as donating profits from kit sales and running collections on some match days. They have raised more than $5,000 to support Seeing Eye Dogs from the amazing support of their club and community.
Ingrid's 70th Birthday for vision
Ingrid wanted to do something extra special for her 70th birthday.
So as well as throwing a big party in celebration, she created a fundraising page and asked all her friends and family to make a donation instead of giving a birthday gift.
Ingrid raised more than $1200 to help give the gifts of freedom and independence to people who are blind or have low vision.
"Vision is such a valuable sense to me as I love taking photographs, love colour, love sunsets and the list goes on.
I want everyone to be able to enjoy these things too. It's so important to me to support Vision Australia to help provide important services to people who are blind or have low vision." Ingrid explained.
