About Vision Australia
Vision Australia is a leading national provider of blindness and low vision services in Australia. We work in partnership with Australians who are blind or have low vision to help them achieve the possibilities they choose in life.
We support more than 25,500 people of all ages and life stages, and circumstances. We do this through 35 Vision Australia centres in Victoria, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia; and through outreach programs in the Northern Territory and Tasmania.
We are a not-for-profit organisation and a major participant and partner in the international blindness community.

Our stories
Your donations and fundraising make a life-changing difference to the lives of Aussie kids like Alfie, Daisy and Gemma.
Alfie's Story
Alfie is an energetic, go-getter. He loves superheroes and dreams of becoming a police officer to catch ‘the bad guys’.
When Alfie was just 3 years old, doctors discovered a brain tumour affecting Alfie's optic nerves, leading to a big surgery and a diagnosis of optic atrophy, blurring his vision and limiting his left eye's movement.
Through Vision Australia, Alfie receives Orientation and Mobility (O&M) support and training. Working with Vision Australia has boosted his confidence and helped him to thrive, ensuring that no obstacles get in the way of his development.
“I just want him to be able to do whatever he wants to do. As long as he's confident and happy, then I'm happy."

Daisy's Story
When Daisy was only a few days old, it became apparent to her parents Louisa and Michael that she needed some extra special care. Now, four-years-old, Daisy lives with around 30-50% vision in her left eye, and 50% in her right. While Daisy’s diagnoses of optic nerve hypoplasia and nystagmus has posed some challenges, support from Vision Australia has helped ensure Daisy is on track to meet her development milestones and enjoy what childhood has to offer alongside her peers.
“Vision Australia have been so good. Through her Occupational Therapist we have been able to learn so many tips and tricks that simply help Daisy on a day-to-day basis. We were astounded at the number of different services that they were able to provide. I just don’t know where we would be had we not contacted Vision Australia"

Gemma's Story
Gemma was only five months old when she was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma, a diagnosis which came as a bolt from the blue for her mum Nova. Over the next year, Gemma underwent four procedures to save what they could of her vision, ultimately resulting in a tube implant being inserted. This condition has left Gemma with limited functional vision and and see only rough shapes and colours from her left eye.
“We are so proud of the milestones that Gemma has achieved over the years and it’s truly thanks to the support from Vision Australia, I believe Gemma can live whatever type of life she wants to lead.”
