I'm fundraising for Seeing Eye Dogs
Heya everyone! My name is Lily Alford & I am a Legally Blind 21 year old from Colac, Victoria. You may have seen me walking around with my selection of colourful canes (rainbow is my most popular choice!) or most recently - Prince my Seeing Eye Dog.
After our more than successful fundraiser last year for World Sight Month - It's that time again where I will be fundraising to help give the gifts of freedom and independence to people who are blind or have low vision by completing the Forrest 10km Trail. Why would I do this if I am already legally blind you ask? To help others who may not have the advantages I have had of course. A young child who has just been diagnosed with an eye condition, your elderly neighbour who is slowly loosing their sight, diabetic complications, head traumas, all critical times for someone with a vision impairment and all critical times where these individuals need specialised support. There is a growing number of Australians living with vision loss. I'm fundraising to support them to live the life they choose.
Vision Australia and Seeing Eye Dogs Australia have supported me throughout my entire life, they have enabled me to work, gain independence, live out of home, socialise, join clubs, exercise, go to school, kitchen and household equipment, visual aides, canes, a guide dog, been advocates for me when I needed it most. They are a critical part of any person with a vision impairments life.
Please DONATE now to make a secure online donation and secure a brighter future for Australians who are blind or have low vision.
Thanks so much for your support. See you on the trail!
