My target 100 kms

I'm doing 100K, my way!

This April I’ll be challenging myself to move 100km for Vision Australia’s 100K Your Way.

For someone who is blind or has low vision, staying active and independent isn’t always easy. Even a simple walk or run can be a challenge. Vision Australia is changing that, by playing a crucial role in empowering people of all ages who are blind or have low vision to move the way they choose.

You can join me in supporting this important cause by sponsoring my 100K Your Way challenge and clicking the DONATE button.

Your contribution and encouragement, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference.

Thank you for your support. Let's make a positive impact together!

My Updates

An introduction

Some of you may know about my volunteering role for Vision Australia Radio as a newsreader for the Advertiser / Sunday Mail, in support of the print disabled (and print lazy). For those of you who don't, the service is vital to ensure all members of our community have access to the same information we find so easily and readily available to us.

In South Australia, the Vision Australia Radio service (also known as 5RPH and VAR Adelaide) can be found on 1197AM, varadio.org and IRIS on DAB+ digital radio and streaming online.

It is estimated that 18.4% of South Australians have a print disability, and the Vision Australia Radio service in Adelaide plays a vital role in meeting their information needs. With a broadcast area that covers the vast majority of South Australia’s population, VAR Adelaide listeners rely on the service for readings from daily newspapers, weekly magazines and a selection of disability specific programs.

Each month, around 91 volunteers covering roles including readers, panel operators, editors and presenters donate approximately 1,200 hours to prepare and present the variety of programs heard on VAR Adelaide.

Volunteers range in age from 50 years to 87 years; from university students, retirees and some who are still working (like me).
