I'm trekking for Vision Australia
Those of you who know me know I am totally blind. I am professionally employed and give to the community through charitable work each year. This year I have chosen Vision Australia because I truly believe in the work they do. I want to see the lives of blind people continue to be positively changed by Vision Australia. To do this, I need your help.
For my part, in March 2024, I (along with a small group of other trekkers) am taking on a self-funded Trek in New Zealand for Vision Australia. This trek is an important opportunity to promote blindness generally, raise public awareness of the work of Vision Australia and raise important funds to support two very important Vision Australia programs - Vision Australia Quality Living Groups and Vision Australia Radio.
In brief, Vision Australia Quality Living Groups provide emotional, educational and peer support services to adjusting to life with reduced or no vision - i'm sure you would all appreciate this change is very significant which is why the continuation of these groups is vital.
Vision Australia radio is equally important - it focuses on dissemination of blindness specific information to people who are blind or vision impaired, along with information that is not readily available to us from other media outlets. Over 350,000 people listen to these broadcasts monthly - in spite of the fact there are over 600 volunteers keeping this vital service running, operation costs exceed $2 million annually.
Please check out the Impact page of my website if you would like to know more about these crucial programs and the difference your donation will make.
In short, if you want to make a tangible difference to the lives of people who are blind or have low vision, stop reading and donate. Be assured, my Participation in the Trek is totally self-funded and all money raised will go to helping people who are blind or have low vision to live independently.
I would be very grateful if you could do two things for me - share this page with your network and donate.
