Gulliver's Pack Latest Update - No.6!
Hi, it’s me – Gulliver! And guess what? I have the BEST news!
My pack has reached the final stages of training! Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday we were tiny pups! Now, thanks to you, we’re all grown-up Seeing Eye Dogs in training, ready to take on the world.
Gator, Gabby and I were all invited to take a special trip into Seeing Eye Dogs HQ for an “In-For-Training” assessment. It was so exciting! We had a health check and did four different assessment walks in busy areas, where we showed our skills around multiple distractions like other dogs, loud noises and traffic.
And guess what? We aced it! We passed our assessments and were told we were officially In-For-Training! Yippee!
Our new instructors, Steve and Mal, are guiding Gator, Gabby and I through the final stage of training. They said to tell you we are lovely, sweet dogs (Aww, aren’t they the best?).
We now wear the guiding harness and are also learning about targeting! This is where we have to indicate the correct place to stand to cross a road. Every day, we get one paw closer to meeting our paw-fect match – the person who will rely on us to guide them safely and with confidence.
It’s been so much fun to be your special friend and sharing all the adventures of my pack. We will never forget your support, kindness and steadfast belief in us. Thank you for helping us achieve our dream to become world-class Seeing Eye Dogs!
