Tommy's Pack

Tommy's Pack Latest Update - No. 6!

It’s me, Tommy! Back with some very exciting news!

My brother Scott and I are in the final stages of training, and guess what? My clever sister, Truffles has finished her training and is currently waiting to be matched! Yippee!! Thanks to your steadfast support – we are about to go onto change someone’s life forever!

Truffles recently got to show off her amazing skills, guiding her instructor through very tricky 9am crowds and traffic in the Melbourne CBD. It was peak hour – can you imagine how focused Truffles must be to do this so well? Wow! I’m so proud of her!

But wait—there’s even more exciting news about my pack!  Janelle and Trevi are so incredibly paw-fect, they have both been accepted into the breeding program – what an honour! That means they are the best of the best. And my lovely sister Trisha is still in training and having health assessments, she’s working hard, just like us!

As for me and Scott, we’re giving it our all! Our instructors say we are big, gentle, sweet boys
(aww, what a compliment!). We’re preparing for one of our biggest challenges yet – the final blindfold assessment.

Let me tell you about this assessment. Our instructor wears a blindfold while we guide them through busy streets. Another instructor follows behind to ensure we remain safe, but it’s up to us to lead the way! We have to prove we truly understand everything we’ve learned. It’s a huge test, but we’ll do our very best!

Of course, training isn’t all work – we get time to relax, too! We love playing with our dog friends, having free runs, and even splashing around in our very own on-site pool.

It won’t be long until Trisha, Truffles, Scott and I are matched with someone who is blind or has low vision, and we can’t wait to start our new lives as part of a team. And you made this happen. You’ve given us this incredible opportunity, and we are so grateful. Thank you from the bottom of our paws – we couldn’t have done it without you!

With love and puppy hugs one last time,

Tommy xox

Introducing: Umeko's Pack

Your next puppy sponsorship update will be coming from your newest spokes-puppy, Umeko. Umeko is just eight weeks old and settling in with her new puppy caring volunteer family. Umeko will be leading a pack of eight adorable Seeing Eye Dog puppies over the next 18 months! Thats a whole lot of puppy love coming your way! Thank you for your continued supporter, we can’t wait to share Umeko’s journey with you.

Your sponsorship changes the life of people like Linda!

Linda has lived with vision loss since she was seven.

But when she lost her sight completely 15 years ago suddenly, getting around became much more difficult. Linda knew she couldn’t rely on others including her children, to guide her.

That’s when Kevy came into her life.

“The moment I was matched with magnificent Kevy, he made me feel safe and reassured. He felt like a big teddy bear who would love and protect me.” Linda says.

With Kevy by her side, Linda has regained the confidence and independence she longed for.

For Linda, Kevy is more than just a Seeing Eye Dog - he’s her companion, and best friend.

“Kevy is everything to me. I want the amazing people who give to Seeing Eye Dogs to know they really are changing lives.”

What’s next for this newsletter

Now that we’re all grown up and making our way in the world, this will be my last entry as your official spokes-pup! BUT, it’s just the beginning of our incredible journey as we become matched with our new humans to make a paws-itive impact on their lives.

Thank you, so much, for being there every step of the way with us on this journey. It’s people like you that make Seeing Eye Dogs possible so we are grateful for your support.
Just because we’re grown dogs doesn’t mean the puppy love has to end! There are over 500,000 people living in Australia who are blind or have low vision and we need more Seeing Eye Dogs to support many more people to live active and independent lives. So as I sign off for the last time, it’s time for your heart to be stolen by my newest puppy pal, Umeko - you’ll get to meet her in this update.

It has been an absolute joy being your spokes-puppy, and I’m sure you will enjoy following Umeko along on her journey to becoming a world-class Seeing Eye Dog.

"Thank you so much for being there every step of the way. Your generosity has made a paws-itive impact on our lives and we are so very thankful for your support
!" - Tommy xoxo
