At just 3 months old, our son Joey was diagnosed with a brain tumor that changed our lives forever.

They’ve been there for every milestone like helping Joey learn to sit, crawl, stand, and eventually walk independently and now, using his first cane! 

Working with Vision Australia has changed our perspective completely. We’ve learned that raising a blind child is not something to be afraid of.

Through their support, education, and access, they’ve opened up our world in ways we never imagined. While this journey can feel overwhelming at times, it has also shown us just how incredibly beautiful life with a blind child can be.

As parents, there were moments we didn’t know what the future would look like. Vision Australia gave us hope, guidance, and the confidence to support Joey in ways we never thought possible.

Vision loss can happen to anyone at any age. It can cause people to lose their income, their social connections, and even their sense of identity. 

Because Vision Australia is focused on a future where vision loss never obscures what’s possible. Where every Australian living with low vision or blindness feels a sense of belonging and has the confidence to move forward to live life as they choose.

This is why we’re taking part in the 100km your way. Together my family and I will each be walking and running 100km this month to raise vital funds for vision Australia.
